On the occasion of UNESCO's celebration of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2020, the United Music Foundation has completed, in Geneva, the preservation of the archives of the great Brazilian singer-songwriter Mário de Castro.
Discovered during research in Brazil in late 2016, this collection of ten magnetic tapes documents Mário de Castro’s musical work in France and Brazil during the 1970s and 1980s.
It includes work tapes from the recording sessions for "Dracula I Love You", an album created in collaboration with Brazilian singer-songwriter Tuca and Brazilian visual artist and writer Jeannette Priolli. Tuca is best known in Europe for her work with Françoise Hardy on "La Question". These tapes offer insight into the creative process behind this much sought-after album, which the United Music Foundation hopes to restore.
This collection also includes a solo album recorded in Paris in the early 70's with legendary Brazilian percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, several recordings made under the name of Rex Taylor, as well as many demos.
This preservation work was carried out in Geneva with the collaboration of Mário de Castro and his family.
